The Cold Moon Named Book Of The Year In Japan

KONO MYSTERY WA SUGOI  (This Mystery Is Brilliant!) is a special issue magazine/ book published by Takarajima once a year in December. This year is the 20th Anniversary edition. It ranks the best mysteries, thrillers, and crime fiction, in both domestic and translation categories, published in the year to October. There were 800 titles this year. The best books are chosen by 73 avid readers of these genres: writers, translators, editors, book sellers, reviewers, critics, columnists, journalists, distributors, mystery magazine publishers, mystery club members, university professors, creative writing groups and members of the general public. The Cold Moon was named best of the year.

In addition, SHUKAN BUNSHUN, a weekly magazine published by Bungeishunju, also ranks the top ten mysteries, thrillers and crime fiction for the year in both domestic and translation categories, in the December issue. The Cold Moon was ranked as number 1. This is chosen by members of The Mystery Writers Association of Japan, (the Japanese counterpart of the MWA). The ranking is the result of a survey of the membership, critics, and book sellers.

Also, Japan Adventure Fiction Association has decided to give The Cold Moon their annual Grand Prix award for the Best Translated Adventure Fiction of the year.
